The 6th annual Toronto Ultracold Atom Network (TUCAN) meeting will be hosted by the Department of Physics at the University of Toronto on Wednesday, May 10th.
TUCAN is a one day meeting to foster interactions and strengthen connections among local groups doing research with ultracold atoms.
Presentations will be 15 minutes long with 5 minutes for questions and changing speakers. The session chair will have a buzzer to signal to the presenter when they are over time.
Poster boards will be 4' x 8', which should be able to support most standard poster sizes.
This anti-harassment policy is based on the example policy from the Geek Feminism wiki (see links below), created by the Ada Initiative and other volunteers.
TUCAN 2023 is dedicated to providing a harassment-free workshop experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of workshop participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any workshop venue, including talks. Workshop participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the workshop at the discretion of the workshop organizers.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, event organizers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the conference. Event organizers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants.
We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities. We think people should follow these rules outside event activities too!
